Today I wore my new shoes that you sent me. They fit perfectly. I wore them hiking. They're dirty now, but still good. Right now, I'll hold on to my coat. It actually got pretty cold here. I was surprised.
Edward is still working towards baptism. He did not come to church yesterday, we were sad. He said he would come, but he wasn't home when we visited. We are hoping to see him on Tuesday. He's very excited about learning the gospel. He really enjoyed church. Well, keep praying for us.
Oh no, I forgot to send the memory card today. :( I will do it pretty soon. I just have to put it into the envelope and send it. Don't worry, you get to see pictures soon.
Well, I love you all.

Hello!
Yes, I did get the new shoes. I haven't tried them on yet, but I will later today. They look really nice! They will be so much better than the old ones that I have right now. My old ones are falling apart. The laces broke and the back part is sticking out with a piece of plastic or something. I might throw them away or keep them for service. We'll see.
Well, this week wasn't too crazy. I got some really cool ties though. We have a family in the ward named the Stout Family. They're really good. Last week, they made me a duct tape tie. It looks really good. You'll see in the memory card that I'm sending. Then, a couple days ago in ASL class, they brought me another tie. This time it was made of wool or yarn. They crocheted/knitted it for me. It was really nice! They were so thoughtful.
Edward was sick this week so we haven't been able to meet him and he didn't come to church. We hope that he's feeling better this week. If he doesn't come this week, he can't get baptized on Feb 15. He's really good though, so we shouldn't have any problems.
The weather here is really nice. Now it's starting to warm up again. It got a little cold for a few weeks but now it's good. I don't need any coats or anything like that. Actually, one of the people we're teaching gave me a coat. It was a really nice coat.
Ok, I'll talk to you next week.
Love Elder Giles.

January 14, 2013:
Hello!
Things are going great here. We have a deaf man named Edward we are teaching. He's so great. He accepts everything. He came to church yesterday too. He said he really liked it. We set up a baptismal day on February 15. I think he will be able to be baptized on that day. He came to church and joined the deaf branch. Everyone was so welcoming. He is prepared to learn about the gospel.
A few days ago, I received a letter from Elder Holmes. He's a missionary serving in Utah. In the letter he says that he visited my ward in American Fork and saw my name on the plaque. I'm curious, did you all get to meet him? I was in the MTC with him a while ago. He's chubby with blonde hair. Maybe he's lost some weight now. I don't know. Anyway, let me know if you've met him.
Ok, I will talk to all of you next week.
Love, Elder Giles

It's cool! Today was a fun day. Today is P-Day and we had a BBQ with some other missionaries. Another missionary made some Ribs, they were sooooo good. Then we played some Basketball. I don't like basketball anymore. But it's ok, we play volleyball a a lot. Anyway, everything is going well here in San Jose. I'm just waiting for new shoes. My old ones are falling apart. They still work, but they won't for much longer. We are still continuing to try to meet Edward. Our last appointment fell through. He forgot we were coming. But he is still really interested.

We had a little new year party with some members. We had a delicious dinner and popped some poppers. And yes, I did get to see Luke's new bike. Is he riding it? He's getting big now.
Now I have some good news. We've been trying really hard to find deaf people to teach. Before, we had a couple of people, but they weren't really interested. Then they moved and we had no idea where they went. So for the past 3 months or so, we haven't had any deaf people to teach. Yesterday, we decided to visit some people on a list that we have. We met a hard of hearing man named Edward. We taught him. It was the best lesson ever! He was really interested about the priesthood and prophets. He said "WOW!" when we told him about a living prophet on the earth. He said that "My future looks brighter" I think he's going to accept it all very easily.
When do you think you will send me my new shoes? My old shoes are falling apart. My laces broke, but I put it back together.
Well, I will send you my memory card soon. I think next week or the week after that.
I love you all, from Elder Giles.
